Outside my Comfort Zone

It was in Sixth Form when I was completely put off wearing trousers. I decided to go and buy brown chinos as an alternative to dresses and skirts. I put them on wore them to school and just felt gross. I was having a classic girl moment of feeling ugly and fat. I hated them by the end of the day and swore off ever wearing any sort of trouser that didn't involve denim again. Until now, I was having a splurge on Topshop sale and came across these! I don't know what made me buy them I think the fact that I want to start playing around with my style and to try new things maybe. I'm very happy I did take a chance on these as they are comfy, smart and suit my body shape better than I expected. I also think going for a trouser that is above the ankle looks great with boots and flats, and it shows off one of the smallest parts of a woman's body making them very flattering!

Gucci Gucci Gucci, the brand is all over my Instagram at the moment and if it's not the Gucci belt then it's Gucci slogan tee, not forgetting the infamous Gucci loafers! I love the simple style of the loafer so I took it upon myself to find a pair similar, good for everyday use and a lot cheaper. So, say hello to these beauties from New Look. They are perfect for work and they go with any outfit and are very on trend.

Going: S O M E W H E R E

Sundays are the best day of the week especially if you spend them by the seaside.

The key to nailing beach wear in April is layering. Living in England we don't know what will happen, especially at the coast...it may look sunny but it was very windy. Layering a shirt, jumper and jacket are good because you can take layers off if the weather gets warmer whilst you're out.

I've wanted a slogan sweatshirt for ages but found they were all a bit over-priced for what they were. Until I found this one on Mango in the sale! It's simple, comfy and looks great when layered over the top of a collared shirt, I feel like I've walked out of an Abercrombie advert (I wish...).

Double denim is a trend I've always loved, a denim jacket is so easy to wear. Go oversized for a more effortless, comfy style. I find tighter denim jackets are a bit uncomfortable as denim is a stiffer material. Also, for layering a baggy fit is better.

Body Faves

Moisturising day and night is a habit I picked up in my early teens. It's become a part of my daily routine and for me, it's a way to pamper and relax...unless of course I've managed to sleep through my alarm and I'm late for work, then it's more of an annoying habit!

It's an absolute must in the Winter, your skin is exposed to internal heating which can dehydrate the skin, leading to irritation in some parts. Moisturiser is the best thing you can do in helping to protect your skin from the elements.

There are a lot of myths surrounding moisturiser and whether your skin can become dependent on it, however, I believe you need to do what works for your skin. I have extremely dry skin so I tend to moisturise day and night to keep it hydrated.

I just feel my skin looks healthier, softer and it adds an element of underlying scent which will last all day. I've tried a few too many and have never found myself repeat buying any in particular until I found these two products. Since it's bank holiday weekend, you've got time to pamper and relax so I thought I'd give you a little review on my fave skincare products for your body!

The Body Shop, Spa of the World range is incredible from the packaging to the luxurious and enticing names. It's just amazing! I use the Hawaiian scent, it's not too overpowering but lingers long enough to make you feel relaxed.

The actual consistency is smooth like butter. I like to keep mine at room temperature to make for an easy application. Don't be put off by the slight greasy appearance in the pot, as it's not greasy when applied. However, it is a super thick, heavy duty moisturiser that spreads across skin easily.

Compared to the others in the range this one leaves the skin feeling supple and soft to the touch, with all creams in the range sinking into the skin fast, allowing you to get dressed soon after applied.

The price is justified through the amount you get in one pot compared to how little you use in one application. Mine so far has lasted me two months which is so good considering I use it every morning.

This is my ULTIMATE find...and it's from H&M. This mega affordable multi use oil is great for dry skin. I brought the scent named 'Relaxing' and it does just that, which is why I tend to use this in the evening. It doesn't sink in as quickly as normal cream moisturisers do, but I feel it works a lot better in terms of keeping the skin hydrated overnight. Also, the scent takes you into a spa-like atmosphere, as it's quite strong when applying.

The product is multi-use, and the company suggests you can add some to a bath or even to your hair to reduce frizz, so for £7.99 how can you go wrong really? It's the perfect product to take on holiday, adding a healthy glow to your tan for the evening or taming that unwanted frizz the hotter climate has decided to give your hair.

Stripe Obsession is back

Stripes, Stripes and more stripes. When I walk into any store I make a beeline for any item with a hint of a stripe. I'm not sure why I have developed this love affair, I just feel they add an element of detail and interest to any outfit.

Normally people tend to stay away from horizontal stripes as they can give the illusion that you are bigger than you are. My advice would be to go with whatever makes you comfortable; aka this jumper is mega soft so, to be honest I don't care if it makes me look bigger. Seriously though, when paired with a baggy trouser or midi skirt the outfit becomes more of a boyfriend fit anyway.

This style of this jumper would look great with black jeans and small crossover bag as well if you aren't a fan of this style of trouser.

This outfit was inspired by a recent job change, I now work in a creative environment so I want to cross that over into my working wardrobe! I want to dress to make me feel confident but above all else keep my working wardrobe as close to my casual style as possible. I always opt for a baggier fit it's just so much more movable, and now that I'm at a desk I want to feel as comfortable as I can. Also, these trousers are airy and light, perfect for a stuffy office environment!

Spring into Action

Running away from Monday blues into a field of yellow flowers, hoping to find some motivation and to have an amazing epiphany of some sort. Spring is the time to reinvent your wardrobe and maybe even make big changes in life. It's the season to come out of hibernation and grab some fake tan as dresses, skirts and shorts hit stores. Which makes me extremely excited, the sun gives me energy and a new lease of productivity that I lose in Winter.

It's time to have a little Spring Clean I think and forget about the long Winter we've just had.

Do I even need to say how amazing this statement jacket is? I mean the boldness of it would normally make me turn around and run back to the comfort of my black and grey majority wardrobe. However, I tried it on and just fell head over heels, it's a jacket that just screams confidence and above all else SUMMER. Coral always makes an appearance in stores around this time of year.

If you are thinking it's a bit bright for me, pair it with a plain midi dress for an effortless daytime look or with jeans for the perfect beer garden outfit. I opted for this loose midi dress with frill detail a small nod to the current 'frill' obsession that's going on. Not too over the top but adds detail and movement to the dress.

Adding boots was inspired by the AllSaints 'Far from Here' campaign featuring Maya Thurman-Hawke. Where every dress was made casual with the addition of cowboy boots. It just looked comfortable, unique and effortless...and I loved it. There was something about wearing boots that seemed more playful as well. Well worth a try.
